Description
This dictionary is an effort to focus the eyes of Industry on the major types of equipment available for lifting and conveying materials; it is divided into various sections, and illustrations are shown giving the correct titles in seven languages.
Whether it is a grain of corn, a chest of tea, a ton of ore, or a loaded railway wagon, there is a machine to move it, to raise it, to turn it over.
Whether it be for fifty feet or fifty miles—a machine exists to convey it and, if required, to bring it back.
If ever Industry decided to appoint a Field-Marshal to plan its strategy, it could not do better than choose a mechanical handling engineer, for his knowledge and experience would enable him to select the best method of moving its materials.
