Description
Learning Cantonese isn’t easy. Many non-Cantonese speakers have started on the road to learning, stumbled, fallen flat on their faces and given up in frustration. Nor is Everyday Cantonese a panacea. You won’t be discussing Chinese art and literature in three weeks flat.
But the 26 lessons set in daily life situations will provide the basic elements of spoken Cantonese so that the language of Hong Kong begins to make sense. More importantly, your attempts at it will be understood.
The series is the result of a marriage between two groups of specialists – the Extramural Department of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Radio Television Hong Kong. The Chinese University has vast experience of language teaching and combined with the production skills of RTHK the result is lessons that are clear, concise and practical.
The marriage is a success. The road to learning still requires effort, but Everyday Cantonese has filled in the potholes, smoothed the surface and makes the journeylively and interesting!
