Nearly 8500 terms used in the building trade by contractors and architects, as well as tradesmen and office personnel, are included in this dictionary. Entries are arranged on an English alphabetical basis. They cover all building materials, tools and technical expressions used in the construction trade. The corresponding terms in French, Dutch and German are arranged horizontally across the page.
The typography and page layout were selected after extensive experiments to ensure the quickest possible reference. Following the basic table is an alphabetical list for each of the other languages, giving the key to the English word-list.
In order to ensure maximum usefulness for this dictionary, certain principles proposed by UNESCO have been used as a guide. This volume fits into a pattern which covers many interrelated fields and all necessary languages. The handy size, thumb index and concise format, in addition to technical expertise, make this dictionary a reference work of permanent value.
