Description
Medical Terminology in Six Languages: Latin, Bulgarian, Russian, English, French, German
Over the past decades, there has been an acute need for dictionaries of medical terminology in the main languages - Russian, English, French and German. The author, proceeding from the fact that Latin is the international language of medical terminology, decided to build this dictionary on the basis of a dictionary compiled from Latin terms. After twenty years of hard work, the dictionary was completed, and in 1964 the Bulgarian edition (six-language – plus Bulgarian terminology) was published.
This dictionary of medical terminology pursues the following goals: 1) to provide an adequate translation of Latin terms into Russian, English, French and German; 2) give a brief interpretation or description of the concepts denoted by the terms; 3) explain the etymology of Latin terms and give some elementary morphological information about them; 4) to help learn how to write and pronounce the corresponding Latin, as well as foreign medical terms correctly.
The dictionary is intended for doctors and scientists, for teachers in higher and secondary educational institutions, for medical students of all courses, for translators of medical literature, for employees of medical publishers.
