Description
The author builds a picture of the London Season which began in the reign of Charles I, and in later times begins in May with the opening of the Royal Academy and ends with Goodwood in July. The London Season captures and retains something of the variegated brilliance of these crowded weeks when everyone tries to squeeze from life just a little bit more than routine intended, and leaves behind a touch of perfume and the blue smoke of a cigar.
